Muñoz presented, "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Drag Queen Scorned": Sylvia Rivera and Latina Identity. " The conference focused on cross-cultural presentations on the ways in which young women adapt and negotiate issues and concerns of gender and sexuality in the United States.
ORIENTING GENDER, DISORIENTING SEX:
PROGRESS
REPORT ON THE GENDER IDENTITY AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION STUDY (GISO),
presented at the 16th
World Congress of Sexology, La Habana, Cuba, March 10 - 14, 2003,
as
part of the symposium titled, "Gender Identity Disorder: Experiences,"
March 14. This congress was held under the auspices of the World Health
Organization and the Pan-American Health Organization and organized by
the Cuban National Center for Sexual Education. Research on
transsexualism
by endocrinologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and educators from
Spain,
Puerto Rico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Cuba and other countries
was
also presented thus providing an opportunity to compare findings
internationally.
