Dear Members of the Wells Community,

The Strategic Planning Committee would like to ask you once again to review the draft of the Wells College Strategic Plan:  “Wells College 2010 Foundations for the Future.” We would appreciate receiving your comments concerning this document via the attached survey.  It is our plan to present the final draft to each of the on-campus constituencies for endorsement at an appropriate meeting in November (faculty at Faculty Meeting, staff at Staff Forum, and students at Collegiate). The final draft will then be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval at their next meeting.  As stated in a previous letter to members of the Wells Community in May, this document represents the work of the Committee during the 2004-2005 academic year that addresses the important foundational needs of the College and one that reflects your input in the early stages of the Strategic Planning process.  It has been important to us throughout this process to make sure that each College constituency would see its needs and its vision for the College represented in this Plan.

We again emphasize that the work completed by the Strategic Planning Committee seeks to address the foundational needs of the College so that Wells can move into the future with confidence and optimism.  Our goal in the strategic planning process has not been to chart new thematic vistas but to build upon the strong foundational core of the College.  We have focused in this Strategic Plan on those areas of the College that have been and continue to be its greatest assets:  the quality of its academic program; its dedicated students, faculty, staff, and alumnae; its co-curricular programs; its diversity; its history; its beautiful physical environment; and its supportive local, regional, and national communities.

A response form is attached. Please use this form to record your response and review of the plan as a whole and return it by U.S. mail, campus drop off at Macmillan 200, or e-mail to spfeedback@wells.edu by Monday, October 12.  Thank you for your participation in the process.
