STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
June 7, 2005
Present: C. Denard, M. VanDuyne, D. Hutchinson, S. Sloan
The meeting began at 9:00 am.
I. The goal for this meeting was to determine how the committee would proceed in the process of establishing benchmarks. For reference, Carolyn D. handed out three examples of strategic plans with benchmarks from Colby-Sawyer, Bennett College for Women and the University of Iowa. It was determined that the numerical benchmarks over the next five years needed to be outlined before listing the required activities needed to meet the goals. It would make it easier to estimate the costs associated with implementation of the Strategic Plan.
It was decided that the senior staff would go over the draft and outline the financial costs and the numerical targets where numbers are needed. After senior staff completed this task, the committee would then meet to review the numerical benchmarks and their recommendations. From this point the committee will work in small groups, determining departments responsible for the specific goal and the “required activities” necessary to achieve the goal.
