Because of the scanner I'm using, each page is a separate pdf file.  Also, because I hadn't figured it out yet,  the pages are upside down.  The Edit menu in Adobe reader has a rotate option; also there may be a rotate button in the menu bar.

P. 5 isn't empty, only the bottom half is.  Rotate it to see it.
