FEB  19: "Sisterhood Is Powerful"

Prof. Victoria Munoz and the Psychology of Women class will host an informal discussion about gender transition and family. Special guests are Teri Hover and Stephanie Cyganovich who will discuss their evolving relationship as sisters...AER (south side sofa) 12:30 -1:30. Everyone is welcome...

Donna Galluzzo

Documentary photography has, since its inception, been a powerful tool for those working towards social justice. Donna Galluzzo teaches documentary photography at the SALT Institute in Maine and carries on this tradition. She has done work with domestic violence surivors, women who have transitioned from welfare to work,  and women who have choosen to have their bodies cast for a local Portland, Maine artist.

Anthropologist and Peace Scholar
Robert Knox Dentan

Bob Dentan, dubbed "The Prince of Peace" in anthropology cirlces, is a world renowned anthropologist and scholar of peace.
Dentan's work among the Semai, a peaceable nation of swidden-horticultural people in Malaysia, has provided him with an understanding of the social and cultural mechanisms Semai use to avoid violence,
even in the face of external threat.
Dentan's work with the Semai has brought him wisdom useful for thinking about the United States' procilivity toward violent solutions to conflict.
