Math 151 Fall '11,  SPSS for your own computer

SPSS is a powerful computer package that does statistical analyses of data.  We will learn how to use some of its features this term.  It is absolutely not required that you get it for your own machineThe lab copies should be adequate unless you have trouble getting to a Wells computer lab, or the only time you can get to a lab is always the busiest time.  If you have a Windows computer of your own and want SPSS for it, read on.

Version 19 will be in the labs.
(V. 18 was  used last term. )
The main new thing is it's now "IBM SPSS" instead of "PASW" and some icons have changed from red to IBM blue.
Directtextbook.com offers other sellers. Some angry customers complained they had trouble authorizing it, even new, from Amazon, because Amazon wasn't an "authorized dealer"--so I'd be cautious. I don't know if a used version will continue to work.    It may start fresh for you but it may die 13 months after the original user installed it.  (Knowing SPSS, if they can make that happen, they will.)
