Kapitel 8: Wohnen

Assignment for Monday, February 21

Familiarize yourself with the goals and content of Kapitel 8 (p. 266); leaf through the chapter to get an overview of what we will be doing. Review anything that seemed difficult on the Kapitel 7 exam. If you haven't finished all the assigned Quia exercises for Kapitel 7, use this chance to finish them. As always, the new material we will be doing for Kapitel 8 will rest on the foundation of what has come before.

p. 267 and Companion Website: Audio Resources: listen to "Die möblierte Wohnung" a number of times and practice reading it aloud, matching your pronunciation and intonation with that of the speakers. We'll do Richtig/Falsch in class.

p. 270: Read Kultur: "Owning a home in the German-speaking countries."

p. 272: Wortschatz 1: Nomen:  Learn Flur to Tisch. Learn the words in conjunction with the drawings.

p. 295: Lesen: Read "Walter Gropius und das Bauhaus." As always, read the text several times, first fairly quickly for overall meaning, then more slowly for greater precision. Practice reading aloud. To check your understanding answer the questions in 8-39 (not to hand in).
