Project Ideas

Here are some areas I would like to know more about. If you bump into something that piques your curiosity, let me know and I will add it.
  1. Webcrawlers. How do they work? Ref.
  2. HTTP and Ajax. Chapter 20 talks about pages being able to make server requests. What is this about?
  3. Servers (NCSA, Apache, IIS)
  4. Security
  5. E-commerce. What is available?
  6. Help someone with a real application
  7. Dig into the network management more thoroughly. Bill McCracken would like someone to migrate an ASP/Access site to PHP/MySQL. This can also be an area that you have some experience with already and are packaging to explain to the class.
  8. What is W3C and what is it doing?
  9. Ruby (a recent addition to web application development). I have several books.
  10. SOAP (a protocol for message passing within web applicaitons). I have several books.
  11. Build a Facebook application
