Project:

The CS 109 project is intended to let you apply the skills you are learning to an area of interest to you. You must complete it satisfactorily to pass the course.

Your database should include at a minimum
  1. three tables with relationships among them,
  2. two queries which use more than one table,
  3. two forms, and
  4. two reports.
Include the following documentation. It should describe:
  1. The enterprise: what organization does the information represent.
  2. The objective: what is the general purpose for building a database.
  3. Specific activities supported by the project.
  4. Description of each of the database tables.
  5. A list of the major features you have used in your project.
  6. Instructions to the user.
  7. Suggestions for enhancing the project. What would you do next if you had more time?
  8. Any other comments you wish to make.

Evaluation criteria include:
  1. Appropriateness of the application: is this an appropriate application of a database and do you use the capabilities that you have learned effectively.
  2. Function: does it do what you intended.
  3. Ease of use: can the user figure out what to do.
  4. Visual appeal: is it professionally presented.
Example domains:
  1. A hobby
  2. An academic interest
  3. A campus club
Include representative data, but I am more interested in intelligent use of the software than that you spending a lot of time typing data.

If you took CS 108, you are welcome to use the same application domain for both Excel and Access. If you do, comment on the strengths and weaknesses of each software package for your needs.
