Minutes 10/21/03

Tonight we planned to discuss:

Mardi Gras ~February 24th~

Candle Light Vigil for Leyla Zana ~November 14th~

Prisoner of Conscience (raising awareness)

Robin Williams Live (as this was postponed)

Fairtrade Conference

Due to low attendance, we mostly hit on a few main points. As usual, we still need ideas for Mardi Gras. Julia Weiss offered to be our liaison with the Cornell chapter of Amnesty International to try and get speakers for the event.

Everyone present agreed that we should hold a Candle Light Vigil in support of the appeal to free Leyla Zana on November 14th.

Robin Williams Live, as has been said in earlier emails, has been postponed due to poor planning. One of the current ideas is to show the movie in the WRC with my DVD player. A date to watch the movie has yet to be set.

Heather asked if members of Amnesty wanted to attend the Fairtrade Conference, as Sarah Alexander is, as far as we know at this point, still looking for van drivers and more people to accompany her to the conference. If you're looking for more information, scroll through your old email or send Sarah your questions. It looks like it'll be a great conference, and though I can't attend, you should go! =)

That concludes this week's minutes. See you all next week!
