Minutes 2/17/04

At tonight's meeting:

Here are your minutes for tonight's meeting:

First up we talked about the speaker. He'll be coming to Wells on Tuesday, March 16th. He'll probably be arriving on Monday night and spend Monday at Cornell. There is a possibility of having him come to a few classes. Janet Mapstone can print up posters for the event, but we need someone to design them. Any volunteers?

Next was the Urgent Action. Once Emily finishes writing it up we'll be tabling it in the Dining Hall. Don't worry if you don't know much about it yet. There will be a cheat sheet for you to read at the table.

Movie night! This Thursday we are showing Life Is Beautiful at 8:00 pm in the Sommer Center. We are sorry that this conflicts with Power's showing of Mississippi Burning. Heather would reschedule, but she JUST signed it up last week and she'd feel a little rude rescheduling after a student worker has already been assigned to show the film. In two weeks we'll be showing the second movie in our series. After a bit of brainstorming we've chosen to show Joyluck Club. In the future, once we have a budget, we'll be serving food at the films. A future film possibility is the movie Osama. Nicole has graciously offered to look into acquiring the film. In March, for National Holocaust week, we're teaming up with Hillel to show another film. A suggestion was The Pianist. Any thoughts?

Our budget was put in on Sunday, on time! Yay! We asked for $1,640.00. The thousand dollars is to pay for the speaker. Alas, I didn't write down what we budgeted out the rest for, but if you're terribly concerned I'm sure you could ask Heather. That's all for now. See you next Tuesday at our wonderful 5:30 pm time slot.
