Welcome to Organic Chemistry (Chem213L)!

In Chem213L, you will learn the fundamentals of organic chemistry with an emphasis on understanding the structure and reactivity of carbon-based molecules. These molecules are the basis of life; they are what we are made of, how we think, feel and move, how we cure diseases, and what we wear and use everyday. In this class we will cover a range of topics, each of them building on the previous ones. This means that the class is cumulative, and subsequent lectures will build on previously covered material. In addition to the lecture portion of class, there will also be a laboratory session one afternoon a week, where you will learn how the organic chemistry that you learn about in lecture is actually done.
