AFA Committee
Minutes for November 14, 2007

Present: W. Ganis, S. Gilchrist, A. Godert, K. Maple, A. Lundquist, J. Schnurr, S. Sloan     

1. Meeting was called to order by A. Godert at 9:42 am.

2. Minutes of October 31 were approved.

3. There will be no meeting next week due to Thanksgiving. At the next meeting on Nov. 28 Dean Miller-Bernal will join us.

4. We had a discussion of an article by James Twitchell, School Daze , Chapter 3 in Branded Nation: The Marketing of Megachurch, College, Inc, and Museumworld .. William started the discussion about how external pressures influence our position in the marketplace. As a formerly women's college we automatically occupy a unique niche, but is that enough to sustain us in the future? How can we educate the public about who we are? Why do students come to, and stay at, Wells? It is interesting that Wells is both inclusive and exclusive simultaneously.

5. Anne discussed what the Enrollment Management Team is now, and their current task of creating an Enrollment Management Plan. This plan will include a brief history of the team. Once the plan is complete it will be a great starting point to assign tasks to both EMT and AFA at the start of each school year.

6. Meeting adjourned at 10:27.
