Admissions & Financial Aid
Committee Minutes
April 1, 2004
Present: C. Bellomo, K. Edgin, K. Green, T.
Lumumba-Kasongo, L. Miller-Bernal, N. Pellegrino, D. Reis, and S. Sloan
- The March 18th minutes were approved
with minor corrections.
- Discussion about which date to present the survey
findings followed. It was decided that May 4th at 4:30 would be the first choice with April 27th
being a back-up date pending the status of the Dean’s Forum scheduled for
April 27th.
- There was discussion about the difference between
an open meeting and a special meeting. A special meeting is called for by
three faculty members and the faculty secretary is responsible for taking
minutes and calling the meeting. An open meeting allows for people other
than the usual audience to attend and does not need to be called by the
faculty secretary.
- Susan will check to see if Sarah Knowlton can put
together more of the data in SPSS for presentation purposes.
- There was discussion on how to present the
material. Should quantitative and qualitative material be mixed in the
presentation? Should there be bar graphs or just raw numbers? Raw numbers
vs. percentages? More discussion to follow at the next meeting to answer
some of these questions.
- It was decided that instead of asking Sarah
Knowlton to put together the data, Nicole Pellegrino would do it since the
information is more intimate to her, being a member of the committee.
- Everyone is asked to go through their surveys and
find some questions they think should be included. Only valid percents and frequencies
should be looked at. Map those on a blank survey for next week’s meeting.
- Professor Lumumba-Kasongo will chair next weeks
meeting in Professor Reis’s absence.
- The meeting was adjourned at 1:30pm
Respectfully
submitted,
Nicole
Pellegrino, secretary pro. Temp.
