AFA Committee
Minutes for March 26, 2008
Present:
J. Chi'eng, W. Ganis, S. Gilchrist, A. Godert, A. Lundquist, C. Patella, K. Punch, J. Schnurr, S. Sloan
1. We approved the minutes from March 5 2008.
2. We are trying to streamline AFA's tasks, and we used the draft Enrollment Management Plan as well as the 'suggestions for the future' from Middle States as a starting place. We brainstormed many ideas:
An open meeting, held yearly in October, which will update the faculty on the current admissions and financial aid data in a clear and concise format, including where we are, what we are doing, and any concerns that the faculty have. We will return to these concerns to prioritize our actions for the year, and then report what we did the following October.
Creation of an annual plan to give structure and continuity to AFA.
Increase ties with EMT by meeting jointly at least twice a semester.
Staying within our current mission statement and getting more involved in reviewing Admissions literature.
3. As part of prioritizing our actions for the rest of this semester, we will hold an open meeting with the faculty, hopefully during the week of April 14. Amy is working on the plan for that meeting....
It will include the following (as discussed)
Admissions policies
New class data (and projections)
Where Wells is (selective, traditional)
Admissions stats (gender, minority, GPA, ACT, SAT, etc)
Indication of majors (if known)
Possibly present or report on the EMP
4. For the next meeting (April 2 at 10:30) we should be reviewing the draft Enrollment Management Plan and bringing comments for discussion. EMT and AFA will meet jointly on April 9 to discuss the EMP.
5. Meeting adjourned at 11:27.
Respectfully submitted,
Jaclyn Schnurr
Secretary
