Wells College Affiliated Off-Campus Study 020

AOCS 020: Documentary Field Studies at The Salt Center

Program Director at Wells College: Associate Professor Muñoz

The Salt Center for Documentary Field Studies located in Portland, Maine is an innovative experiential option for off-campus study. The Salt Center offers the opportunity to intensively engage in field research in a variety of settings. At Salt, students are paired--one writer, one photographer--and work together throughout the semester on an in-depth project. The best projects are published in The Salt Magazine. This field-based experience will enhance options for graduate school and strengthen research skills for the social sciences. Admission into the program generally requires junior or senior standing, GPA of 3.0 in a social science major or minor, and one of the research methods courses in the social sciences but these are general guidelines. Students from other divisions and majors are welcome as well but might benefit from a social science course before attending the Salt program.

Like all Wells affiliated off-campus study programs, the Salt experience can count toward your college and, where applicable, your major requirements.

Interested students should contact Professor Muñoz (vmunoz@wells.edu) for more information about how to apply. Also see the Salt webpage for application materials and deadlines.
