Math 151 , Day 37, Monday, April 29, 2001

What was the significance of the Guinness can? (and is it still around?)
See Day 35, for class notes and homework.
Wednesday we'll learn how to get SPSS to do the computations.
Meet in Mac101 computer lab Wednesday.  Bring your SPSS book and your textbook (and a disk.)

Next:  "two-sample tests".  Two SRS's, independent, from distinct  populations. (Populations are normally distributed)
Often--comparing means from an experiment with two treatments (usually control and "treatment").
To examine  the difference of the  two means, mu1 - mu2
We use the difference of the two x-bars, (xbar1 - xbar2.)   We need the Standard Error of  xbar1 - xbar2 , and then we can proceed as before, more or less.
