Meeting was called to order at 12:35 PM.
Present were Professors Bennett, Penniman, Sievers, Staples, Uddin.
Associate Dean Denard; Registrar Leybold-Taylor; Head Librarian Vargo;
Student representatives, N. Pellegrino (sr.), Emily Rose Smith (jr.), Yasmine
Jaber (so.) , Alice Jordan (WILL).
Item: Minutes from 11-8-04 were unanimously approved without changes.
Item: A proposal from Professor Beatrice Farnsworth was discussed.
This was a proposal for a 3+2 – type degree with Upstate
Medical School. It was suggested by members of the committee
that this proposal should first go to the BCS Department, then through
the Natural and Mathematical Sciences division, and perhaps through the
Strategic Planning committee. The Science division would then send
it to APPC after their initial approval. Enthusiasm was expressed
for the proposal, and Professor Staples will send a letter to Professor
Farnsworth suggesting the proper approval sequence.
Item: Dean Denard re: further discussion of Experiential Learning:
The remaining question is, “When will changes go into effect?”
The proposal states that the changes will ensue for the class of 2009,
which exempts other classes. Should the language be
changed to Fall of 2005? Discussion ensued, and it was
decided that the changes should affect “Students entering Wells in the
2005-2006 academic year." Currently enrolled freshmen, sophomores
and juniors who need to complete their experiential learning
requirement may choose either the old requirement or the new one.
This was approved by the committee to be sent to ASA.
Item: Dean Denard presented a proposal for changes to WELLS 101-102,
to be discussed at a later date.
Meeting was adjourned at 1:40 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Victor Penniman
Assistant Professor of Music
