Present: Ellen Hall, Susan Talbot, Victor Penniman, Karla Leybold-Taylor, Nicole Pellegrino, Sally Sievers, Bruce Bennett, Amy Staples, Carolyn Denard.
Meeting called to order at 8:35 AM
Minutes for meetings on the 17th and 31st of March were approved.
Curriculum proposals for the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Division were approved.
Curriculum proposals and changes to the majors and minors for the Social Sciences Division were approved. It was noted that the new First Nations and Indigenous Studies minor does not require new faculty.
A question was posed by Carolyn Denard regarding the changes in the Psychology major, with specific regard to the elimination of the Psychology of Stereotyping and Prejudice course. This was a course that had been created by Prof.. Michael Migdal, who had since left Wells. The question was whether or not seemingly valuable courses in a major should be eliminated simply because the professor who created them, who in this case was a visiting professor, leaves. After some discussion, no final conclusion was drawn.
Meeting adjourned at 9:35 AM
Respectfully submitted,
Victor Penniman
